Noise Ordinance

The City of Manhattan’s noise ordinance restricts noise disturbances including sound which endangers or injures the safety or health of humans or animals, amplified sound originating in most zoning districts, and amplified sound originating in a vehicle. The noise ordinance also sets restrictions on decibel level depending on the district. The noise ordinance protects the public from excessive and unreasonably loud noises that may be detrimental to citizens’ physical, mental, and social wellbeing as well as use, enjoyment and value of property within the city.
